April 10, 2020 at 00:09:25
Specs: Windows 7
In my Dell Optiplex 760, CMOS battery was replaced due to prompt of system battery, followed by setup utility (F2)/ maintenance/ restore defaults (here no option of save changes appeared) after Exiting, 2 options appeared;
windows files have been changed...
1. launch setup repair
2. start windows normally
but choosing option 2 results in the same message on black screen again and again. please guide what may be the possible remedies.

You will have to go into the BIOS set up and reset a few things manually. Time, Date, Boot device, Boot Order, Primary Graphics, check CPU and RAM settings, etc. Then you should get the option to save changes or look for the F-Key shortcut to save changes (not sure it F10 or F12)

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Check if you SATA controller is set to AHCI, the most likely option before you change the battery.

does the unplug power and hold down power button for 20sec not work?
plug in the power afterwards & start the PC
