Specs: Windows 7, Intel Core i3 2.13Ghz/ 4 GB
Hello Guys,

I hope you guys can help me with this problem, but I have not been able to figure out anything. My laptop is constantly losing the time and date. I checked the time zone and day light saving time information and it still losses time. I formatted the hard drive and reloaded the operating system. Even still, my date and time is constantly incorrect. My laptop was still under warranty so I sent it in for repairs. They told me that the motherboard was bad and they replaced the motherboard. After they replaced the motherboard I have still been having the same problem. My laptop is no longer under warranty so it is up to you and I to figure out this problem! Please help me and give your suggestions. I don't understand what could be the problem. Thank you.

The cmos battery is bad and i believe they didn't change the mobo(new boards comes with cmos battery already installed).

Well that is what I said, that the CMOS batter was dead. But like you said, a new MOBO comes with a CMOS battery already installed. The laptop was sent to Asus and they sent it back with a note saying that they had to change the MOBO. Do you really believe that they lied about changing the MOBO?

If you can get to the cmos battery in that laptop go ahead and put a new one in, just in case.

If it loses time while the computer is off it likely is the cmos battery or its circuitry. If it loses time while the laptop is on then some software must be involved.
