Solved Clear X:disk (virtual) , B:RAM both shown as read only

Specs: Windows Vista
Is there a software programme to automatically clear everything off pc?

Originally installed xp pro then decided to change to vista which installed to X. C and D hard drives are shown in bios as none so the system must have knocked these out although they worked fine before this happened.
Can't format, shown as read only and message saying that system being used and this should be shut down. This is probably Hirens so can't shut this down.

Can only boot with Hirens. Tried all ways to clear computer without success.
Surely there must be some way to get rid of X and B and then install operating system afresh.

The drives MUST be recognized by the BIOS, if they're not, you have a hardware problem. Experimenting with different software is just a waste of time. Double check all the cables & BIOS settings. If you have IDE hard drives, make sure the master/slave jumpers are set correctly, do not use Cable Select. And it's generally best to put IDE HDDs on separate channels rather than having both on the same cable/channel.
