Specs: Windows XP SP2
What's the best way to remove the front panel of a case? It looks to be fixed on with plastic expanding rivets?

It would be helpful to know which case we are dealing with. I never saw a case made like you described.

Normally, there are locking tabs that you must depress while pulling on the front bezel. Start at the bottom and work your way up. Keep a little tension on so the tabs you have already released do not catch again.

What makes you think the power button is bad?

Thais the question I would ask as well. The power button is just a simple push to make.release to break switch. There not a lot that can go wrong with them.

You can test it by tracing the wire from the power button the the motherboard. Remove the cable and just short the contacts with a screwdriver. If the computer starts up then it is probably the power butt. If it still fails to start then you need to be looking at something else.
