Cheap printer won't print filled-in PDF forms

January 22, 2019 at 20:00:49
Specs: Droid 8.0.0, iOS 12.1.2
I got a super-cheap printer (Canon TS-3122) and it won't print the information that has been saved in PDF forms, e.g. I have entered my name in the "Name" field, but it prints blank. The PDF viewer shows the form correctly filled in, but in the Canon app it shows the form as blank (not filled in).

Any suggestions how I can make this work? I'm printing from both a Droid phone (Motorola moto g6) and an iPhone X, and it is happening from both phones. (I don't have the printer connected to the computer so I can't check here.)

I believe the problem is with Adobe, not your printer. Are you using Reader DC or DC Pro? Have you tried a different PDF program to see if that "fixes" the problem - Foxit Reader for example?

Have you tried "printing" the PDF form as a PDF file. (e.g. MS print to PDF) or PDF creator etc..?? Does the created PDF file show correctly?

Your problem is that you need to do a Save As and save the file to your desktop or Documents, close it and reopen it from there (the new saved document, not the original). Then it should print correctly. It may print OK one you save it but reopening it may save you paper and ink, just take a little bit of extra time.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I see that more information from me is needed.

The PDF was filled in on OS X El Capitan (10.11.6, if it matters) in the default Preview app. I saved my changes to a new file, and then emailed the new file to myself so I could access it on the phones. Both on the Mac and both phones (which are both using their default apps to view the PDF), the form information appears correctly, e.g. my phone number shows up in the proper place, but when opened in the phones' Canon app (which is where everything is printed from on both phones) the forms are blank.
