Since you have trouble responding, I'll suggest the following:

If it's a laptop, try a separate keyboard (USB) and see if the problem persists. If not, then you likely need to return/repair the laptop/keyboard. If it's a desktop then simply replace the keyboard

If it does persist, then you may have some type of malware/infection causing the problem (whether laptop or desktop):

Older versions of Windows used to have an On-Screen Keyboard option and there's apparently one in Win10. You might be able to use this if the keyboard is defective (until you get a new one):

"batteries in keyboard" means a wireless keyboard.
Try plugging in a USB wired keyboard. If this works then you know that the keyboard is bad or the USB dongle is bad (or other bluetooth device). Basic USB wired keyboards are very cheap if you do not have one, just purchase one. If you are OK with using a wired instead of a wireless one then purchase one that is a little bit better and one to your liking.

Thank you for all the help.
I believe that the problem is solved.
I firmly pushed in the dongle at the back of the computer and all seems to be working again.
