Specs: windows 7 starter, unknown/8gb
I got a bios battery for my Asus Eeepc 1005HA laptop but its twice the size of the battery i just took out thats not working. The connector is right. I guess the battery is no good as the voltage might be higher? https://www.asus.com/Laptops/Eee_PC...
and the battery i bought is this one https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-DC0...
the seller has offered to refund but just wanting to see if i should do that if in fact the battery is not usable. The seller hasnt answered that question

Are you sure you bought the right battery - ML1220? Did you check voltage with a multimeter?

I only know what it says in the ebay listing. Which is the model of the laptop. It didnt say the voltage or size from memory. I dont know what voltage mine is supposed to be ...or the voltage of the original one

From what I could find, the correct battery is ML1220. It's a 3V rechargeable & should read approx 3.2V when brand new & fully charged. There's also a CR1220 battery that's non-rechargeable & should not be used. Too bad there's no model number in the eBay posting. Is there a model # on the old battery?

BIOS Battery? - - the correct name is CMOS Battery.

The ML1220 is the same voltage (3v) as the CR2032 but has one very important difference - - it's rechargeable. You must use only rechargeable CMOS battery in that laptop.

Hi Rap,

here in the UK CR2032 Battereis are 4 for a £1 or better, same in Europe.
However they are not rechargeable.

You should have identified the Battery in use, prior to purchasing its replacement. It will have its number and voltage etc stamped on its can. Sometimes with small batteries I need a Magnifier and Sunlight to read.

Also if looks the same as the ebay picture, possibly it can be changed, retaining
the original Holder. Again this should be checked before purchasing a replacement.

Search ebay for ml1220 battery and see what comes up.
Maybe the original seller can help.

As a guide, with a voltmeter I would expect a reading slightly higher than 3 volts on a new battery, and lower on the old one.

Although possibly they do not sell the battery you seek, much useful Battery information (such as equivalents / size etc.) can be found here.

http://www.smallbattery.company.org...

e.g. for watches, if available, I use Silver based batteries as power is fractionally higher..

For tagged versions, see;-

Generally these batteries are 3 volt it is the size that differs. Why there is so many is beyond me.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.
