Solved cds wont play in portable player

June 7, 2011 at 11:21:18
Specs: Windows 7
CDs I've burned on my (IBM T43p) laptop using Windows Media Player will not play on a Maxim portable CD player. I've used both TDK and supermarket own-brand CD-Rs without success. The portable player plays CDs not burned on my laptop. The CDs burned on my laptop will play on my laptop.
Can you help?

Now all cd players can read burned disks. Not all cd players can read formats that are used to copy disks.

You should just use the original disks. That way you avoid copyright issues.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

✔ Best Answer
"Not all cd players can read formats that are used to copy disks."

The OP is not copying discs if he/she has used Windows Media Player to create the discs because WMP cannot copy discs. I imagine all they have done is write music tracks to the discs, using WMP.

If those tracks on the CD are, for example, in MP3 or WMA format, many standalone CD players cannot play those audio formats unless it says otherwise on the front of the player or in it's user manual.

Thanks PiP22,
The tracks are MP3s so that's the likely answer.
