Specs: Windows Vista
i have a hp pavilion dv6700 series and a few
days a go i noticed that my cd-rom drive
wasn't being detected. Its not under my
computer, their is nothing for cd/dvd under
device manager, like their isn't even a spot for
a drop down, and it wont even open once
my operation system is running. (Vista) but
before vista loads while my computer is still in
bios load, it is detected their and i can open
the drive, but not once vista loads, anybody
have any ideas why and how to fix it cause its
really started to bug me. Also i haven't
installed anything lately, and i have even done
a restore point right before my last install just
incase, and still nothing, so any help will be
wonderful.

Has it ever worked??
I had a similar problem with my desktop, and as far as I remember (it was a while ago) it was because the conifiguration of master/slave drive settings was wrong, but of course with a desktop it's easier to get to them.
I ask if its ever worked as I dont see how this could change as they are normally changed by moving a jumper on the back of the drive.
Hope this helps a bit
