Specs: Windows 7
getting error cdboot bootmgr is missing when trying to boot from emachines d725 recovery cd, which already contains win 7 , i want to install win xp now

Agree with previous poster - "bootmgr is missing" proves that the PC is trying to boot from the hard drive, not from CD.

You need to go into BIOS setup and set "CD-ROM" as the first boot device, then make sure you "Save & Exit" (F10) when exiting the BIOS setup
