Specs: Windows XP
I have a virus on one of my pc's and I copied over a program from another pc to take care of the virus. However, when I try to load up the cd on the infected PC its not identifying any files on the disc. I know its there, since I used it on the other pc in the house.

viruses are pretty good at protecting themselves, once you're infected. a lot of cleaning/removal tools are bootable applications instead of running on top of Windows, or need to run in safe mode or something.

you might have better luck posting in the Security/Virus section.

to elaborate, i don't think we can troubleshoot this as a hardware/CD drive problem until you've rid your system of the infection, which could be causing the CD problem anyway...

Thanks for the replies. I did figure out I needed to fix it in safe mode, so that wasn't the problem. Turns out my son's cd player can't read CD-R discs. When I copied the fix over to a CD-RW, it worked perfectly. Thanks again!
