can't view files on a HD from an old system

March 29, 2011 at 05:32:53
Specs: Windows XP
My work computer crashed and I had a few internal drives. I took those drives out to backup and put them in another system. When I boot up the HD shows up and shows how much free space is left correctly however I can't view anything on that drive. Both computer had XP pro installed on them. I ran CHKDSK /F and that did not fix the problem.

Look in Disk Management and take ownership before you can view the files.

"Can't view anything." Does that mean you're getting access denied?

I'd just remove the drive and use a USB adapter to connect it to the computer.
