Cant open and format

Specs: Xp, 1gb
Cant open and format my pc..also safemode is not working. Whn opening my xp after the motherbord (intel) showing it goes to a black screen.then not workin. So i try to format with ubuntu&win7. In ubuntu instaling aftrer the 1st stop wrkng. In win7 its also goes to black screen.what should i do?pls help

First test the hard drive with the drive maker's diagnostic software for DOS which loads from a bootable CD.

If the drive is less than 3TB capacity you can test it with HGST Drive Fitness Test. Download the CD Image from here:

Use ImgBurn to create a CD from the CD Image:

Then boot your faulty PC from the CD. When a short menu appears, highlight "ATA only" and press <Enter>

If that fails, burn CD with Memtest on it and boot to it the same way and run it before assuming HD is bad, a bad RAM module can give you false errors on hard drive test. If neither test completes, you may have a really bad memory module so if you have more than one, retest with one memory module at a time to confirm this. If neither one works, you may have a power supply problem or something worse. Post back results for more help. Include all hardware specs so we can better understand the issues.

Yeah, formatting the disk with the OS on it should be done after booting from a different drive. I can't tell if that's what you're doing or not.

Beyond that it does seem like you have other hardware problems.
