August 14, 2011 at 06:28:37
Specs: Windows 7 64bit, RAM 2 x 4GB DDR3
I made sure I followed the instructions to a T and even made sure i was not statically charged. I taken out my 2 x 3GB RAM DDR3 Modules and replaced them with 2 x 4GB RAM DDR3 Modules. everything went in smoothly and had put everything back in place. I turn on my computer and all i get is a black screen with the Caps lock light flashing my wireless light is orange and my volume light is orange meaning turned off , My model of computer is HP Pavilion Dv7 4057ca its max cap is 8 GB so i know i didnt put to much in I am just trying to get it to be a simple upgrade. so Since it didnt work and i waited hours upon hour for it to turn on but it didnt so I tried putting back in the RAM modules that i had originally taken out put them back in and I ended up with the same problem now. All i get is a black screen motor running but its wont do anything wont even load up for safe mode cause i cant even get it to go there.

"i waited hours upon hour for it to turn on"

Why? A RAM upgrade will work immediately, IF it's done correctly. There is no waiting involved - either it works or it doesn't.

There's nothing to it. Just unplug the power, remove the main battery, flip the laptop over & remove the access door that covers the RAM. Then remove the old, insert the new & close it back up again. Assuming the new RAM is compatible, the only thing that could go wrong is that you're not fully seating the modules in the slots.

Did you remove the battery pack before changing the RAM modules?
