Cant access previously encrypted files

Specs: Windows 7, 4 GB
i use seagate external hardrive. i have encrypted few photos previously in this drive in my old laptop which had windows XP now i am using a different laptop with windows 7 and i am able to decryprt my files. i installed my hardrive again but its of no use. how to decrypt the files?

They can only be decrypted by the machine that encrypted them. Otherwise what is the point of encryption?

I am assuming the files were encrypted with NTFS encryption. If they were encrypted by some other method your question cannot be answered without further information.

Sorry, but I think your files are inaccessible, except possibly for some very advanced methods I have no experience with. NTFS encryption uses a key that is a part of your user account and they can only be decrypted by that key. An account on a different computer with the same name and password is by no means the same account. Unless you have the original computer with the same Windows installation and the same account you cannot decrypt those files.

i have changed the computer but not the external hard disk. i used seagate external hard disk for the encryption and i am using the same hard disk for trying to recover it. but its not working. the encryption tool of the hard drive was not opening so i installed the hard disk again n copied the encryption folder from the hard disk to my desktop. now how to recover the files back. and i havnt formatted the hard disk.
