Solved Canon scanner has stopped linking with my desktop.

Specs: Windows 7
The CanoScan 9000F AU Mark II Color Image Scanner has worked perfectly since installation 2 years ago. Computer screen now comes up with "cannot communicate....." signal.

I have checked all connections, tried different USB port in desktop,& uninstalled and reinstalled canonscan software. None of this has helped. This scanner is connected to Acer AM3400 desktop which is used solely for photographic processing, editing, scanning and storage. Elements 9 editing programme installed. I choose to NOT connect this computer to the internet and keep all my photo processing confined to this setup. It has worked perfectly with this arrangement for the last two years.

How can I get my scanner and computer to start communicating again?

Try a new USB cable on your scanner.

My thoughts exactly. The USB cord could certainly be bad, especially if it ever got pinched, the cable makes a sharp bend out of the machine or computer end, or is prone to being disturbed (moved, stepped on, pushed around, etc).
It is also the easiest , simplest, cheapest, and most overlooked solution so give it a try first (or is that second?).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
