Canon prints blank pages.

February 1, 2017 at 03:30:55
Specs: Windows 10
I have the same printer and have flushed out the print head and also tried a tested print head from an ip4900. The print head is purged with ink yet the pages are blank. I also did a hard reset to no avail. Hard to explain if it hasn't happened to you. I also tried the print head in my 4900 and prints OK.

Canon mg5350 though I hear this happens to other canon printers so I suspect a common problem.

Hi Nugget,

for such queries it is best to advise the Make *AND* full model number of the device concerned. Sometimes the operating system version helps.

Does it print a Test Page?

Have you replaced the ink recently, if so was it from Canon?

Using oem ink can cause problems, as printer manufacturers sell printers cheap, then charge a lot for consumables, which is how they make their real money.

Because of this, they construct their printers to fail if someone else's ink or toner is used.

Good Luck - Keep us posted.

I was responding to a question with the same printer Mike. It has only had canon inks in it. The test page is blank as well as nozzle check. I've tried several print heads as I also have ip4900's. I also have used canon's for 15 years. I still have 4 others that I use for photo selling. As the print head works in the 4900 it isn't that or the inks. I can't understand where the ink goes as the print head uses ink. I flushed it clean and after test prints there was ink on the bottom of the print head. It's as though the paper isn't touching the print head.

A very looooongshot... can you view and check the paper path is clear all the way; especially at point of contact with the print heads?

As this is a multifunction unit, does it scan/copy OK- or not?

Scan/copy and then try to print but paper is blank.Compared to my mp550 the carriage appears to lift and drop the same after opening the cover. I can't see any reason on the paper path for the paper not to be printed on.

Thanks for that but has been done. I bought this printer for parts only and I have a good printhead and a set of inks for my ip4900. I guess this is a hardware issue that can't be resolved by resetting the printer. If the problem was inks there would be a gradual loss of ink and not a sudden blank page. Thanks you all for suggestions.

@ Aberose - Much better to start your own thread/post than to tag onto this one. More people are likely to see it and offer help...
