Specs: Windows 7
I have gone through all cleaning list twice, have rinsed out the printer head with warm water, re installed and still printing blanks. Have done both from the computer and the printer itself.

I'm sorry but I can't select a Best Answer, as they were all helpful, none of them fixed the printer, but maybe that was my fault, either damaged something didn't do it properly. Used a lot of ink doing the cleaning ect. Best solution was that fixed the problem I went out and bought another printer, which was cheaper than replacing the print head. As everything I did it still spat out blanks.

"rinsed out the printer head with warm water"
With the head out, clean the contacts at the rear of the compartment with a cotton swab soaked with distilled water. Dry with a fresh swab.

I have done all those things, but not with distilled water, dried the print head as described in utube, put it back in and it's still spitting out blanks.

"it's still spitting out blanks"
Right-click the Canon icon then click Properties.

3. Click the Maintenance tab then Deep Cleaning icon.

4. Click the Cleaning button, and then click OK.

When the print head cleaning begins, the POWER light starts flashing. Wait for the light to stop flashing before you resume normal operation.

5. After print head cleaning finishes, print the nozzle check pattern to verify that the head is clean.

You need to do it more than once, can take up to 10 or more times, it may not be cost effective.

The model Canon is a MG5560 Pixma. I have done it multiple times, the cleaning process, put new ink cartridges in yesterday and have had to do it again on two of them

Sadly these days it’s often cheaper to replace a printer (buy a new one) than to repair it.

That having said, there are some occasions when one can repair a printer if the part(s) are available at a reasonable cost (less than a printer); and one is happy to do the work oneself.

But those occasions are likely few and far between for the average end user.
