If the printer is only 2 or 3 years old then try cleaning it again, sometimes a really bad clogging can be cleaned out after 4 or 5 cleanings. If the printer is more than 4 or 5 years old and it is not one of the more expensive business types then just replace it. Replacing print heads is rarely financially practical, especially after 3 years of use (even 3 years of occasional use they are beyond usable).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Sometimes the print head can become so blocked that no amount of cleaning will clear it. In those instances it is new print head or printer time.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Thanks Derek
before i go down the new printer route is there anything else at all i can try? it seems odd that the magenta would suddenly stop, as i thought if it was getting blocked it may be more gradual reduction in colour?

It could also be the circuitry that controls the magenta on the control board has gone bad.
