Solved Cannot remove CD Rom filters from registry

My CD Rom plays CDs, but does not burn or recognize blanks. Microsoft support advises deleting the CD ROM upper & lower filters (which may be disrupted) in the Registry. When I try to delete the filters, I get a pop-up that states "Unable to delete all specified values" and a warning that deletion could have destabilizing effects on the computer.

Please advise.

Might use repair feature in booting xp cd.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Try deleting them in Safe Mode

Just tried your suggestion again to attempt to remove the CD Rom filters as Administrator and it WORKED! However, removing the filters still did not get the CD Rom to recognize blank discs. The CD recognition problem is stated on a separate posting.

Many thanks,
