Cannot disable synaptics touchpad! help!!!

Hello everyone...

How can I disable my synaptics touch pad? Apparently disabling the touch pad doesn't work on my laptop as it restarts itself after 2 or 3 days. It is strange. Then, when I go into the mouse properties and want to disable it again, it is already greyed out and it immediately disables itself without me having to do anything. Just by going into its properties it disables itself again.

Now, tell me that is NOT weird??

Disabling in windows is different than in the Setup (BIOS or CMOS). Try disabling the device there. Another option is to uninstall the Synaptics driver, if possible.
If it really becomes a problem, grab a service manual for directions and unplug the pad under the keyboard.
Wierd? I think so. Electrical devices tend to do strange things once they start acting up with intermittent problems.

Thanks for the reply...I uninstalled the driver...and upon restarting my laptop it reactivated it's self again. So, I went to the Synaptics site and reinstalled the driver...went back into the properties and disabled it once it seems to be staying off...IF worse comes to worse I may unplug it from unter the laptop...that's a bit drastic, but I may if it reactivates again...OR do the bios disable.

Thanks for trying to help...all is quiet for now...hehe.

Where in device manager is the touchpad? One of the mice? I have a usb mouse and a ps2 mouse in device manager - neither disabled the touchpad.
