I think fat 32 is limited to 32 gigs. You will need to create a partition.... then format it fat 32

I believe you can convert FAT32 to NTFS but you can't do it the other way around, at least not easily. Why would you want a 1TB FAT32 HDD? There will be a LOT of wasted space due to the large cluster size & slack space. But if that's what you want, you'll have to format the drive using the HDD manufacturers software, which means all data on the drive will be lost. If you have less than 500GB data on the drive, you can create 2-500GB partitions & format one as FAT32. Then you can either leave it like that or transfer the data from the NTFS to FAT32, then reformat the other partition to FAT32, then recombine both partitions into one large FAT32 partition.

FAT32 is not limited to 32 gigs but it becomes an issues with slack space over 32 gigs. FAT 32 can easily handle up to 2 terabytes. I suggest you go to Microsoft's website and do some reading. There are third party programs that can convert NTFS to FAT32 but do your homework first.

It is my understanding that you cannot "convert" NTFS to FAT32.

You must delete the non-dos partition and create a new partition then format the new partition as FAT32.

There are converters that can convert FAT32 to NTFS but it is a one-way street.
