Cannot connect computer to TV via HDMI

June 29, 2011 at 20:48:07
Specs: Windows 7
I have a Dell XPS running windows 7 and I cannot connect to a TV with an HDMI cable. Both the PC and the Sharp flatscreen have HDMI ports and I have used a HDMI connection successfully on the TV before. I have restarted the computer with the HDMI connection already made and when the computer restarts the picture shows on my TV up until the point where windows boots up then the TV goes blank, my computer is recognizing the TV because it shows it in the display settings but no matter what I do I can't get a picture to show. Im using a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670 display adapter, if anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Display properties (screen resolution) - set up the new hardware.
Is it to display same image as main display or extend the desktop?

ATI software has a wizard that installs new displays. If it is installed, run that.

How do you get to the wizard? I want to duplicate my screen on the TV.

In The Tray (by the clock) will be and ATI symbol. Or hover the mouse over the symbols to get a description. Double click the one for the display settings.
Go to control panel, double click display.
Right click on the desktop. Catalyst is at the top of my menu. That is the ATI wizzard.
