The short answer is no.

The longer answer is it would require at a minimum a repair install of the transplanted operating system. The license key would probably also become an issue.

If you have install media for the HP then use it to do a clean install rather than trying to do a repair install of a cloned Dell.

If you do not have HP Install media then the question is moot anyway. When you first bought the HP were you not prompted to create the factory re-install disks?

You can purchase from HP a recovery disk for a reasonable fee that can reinstall your OS as it was shipped from the factory. You will need to supply the full model number to HP, probably the serial number, and possibly proof of ownership (if it was not already registered), but all you would have to do then would be to wait its arrival. If it is still under warranty, HP will probably supply this free and a new hard drive if it is dead (possibly preinstalled).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
