How would any of us know if you can or can't? Have you ever used it before? Do you know how to install & set it up? Do you have a copy?

Download the LiveCD ( http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/s... ) and try it. I've found it's happy with most hardware, so it should be OK.

Solaris or any of the open sourced versions should work if your computer meets the minimum hardware requirements. All I in any graphic mode needs at least 1G ram.

See opensolaris, openindiana too.

Just to add, I wouldn't recommend using ZFS with less than 2GB of RAM, but as the OP has 2GB he'll be OK.

I tend to never trust the computer spec list under their name.
