Can i use a RJ-11 to RJ-45 adapter to get faxes

Specs: Windows XP
Can i use a RJ-11 to RJ-45 adapter in a network printer to receive faxes. The network printer has fax capabilities but does not have Rj-11 slot.

Some networked printers do really have a pots phone connector in them. That is the only way to make a real facsimile connection.


You may be able to scan some document to your computer then use that image to fax out of the computer. That has little to do with the printer. Or the other way round actually.

NO, you cannot. the network port on a printer will only work with a standard ethernet network protocol.

If the printer truely has fax capabilities, then it will have an RJ-11 connector on it.

It would help if you posted the make and model of the printer.
