Sockets have different number/names for a reason. It shouldn't be too difficult to understand that a socket LGA1155 processor will NOT fit in a LGA775 socket.

If you want to use a socket LGA1155 processor, you will have to get a socket LGA1155 motherboard. And you will most likely need to get other hardware too - DDR3 RAM for example.

Out of curiousity, what is it that you can't do with the E6600? If you're not happy with the performance, have you considered overclocking?
