Solved Can I upgrade a video card with PCI-Express

Specs: Windows 7, 2.40 gigahertz Intel Core2 Quad Q6600/8GB RAM
How do I tell if my desktop has PCI-E and if ts 16x or what not. I am looking to upgrade my current NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GS to a better beforming video card. I have a GATEWAY FX540B 209 and mother board is as copied frmo Belarc Advisor:
Main Circuit Board b
Board: ELITEGROUP 680IT-GB 1.0
Bus Clock: 267 megahertz
BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 080014 06/18/2008

Quite obviously you would search the Gateway Website, they made the PC:

Sorry I feel ike a newb I just got this computer from my mom who got it from gateway a few years ago I never thought to look on the site and try and find it since sometimes they dont have older computer specs up but thankfully they still have this one. thanks again :)

You can upgrade the video card, but it will depend on what power supply is in it. If you can, open the case and look at the label on the psu. What is the amperage on the 12V rail or rails. The label will say 12V + and 12v -.

well this is all what I was able ot write down from my power supply.../may make sense to some of you to me..it dont here it is:

Model: DPS-700FB-1 E
Autorange 50/60 Hz
Output +3.3V/24A
+12V1/18A
+12V3/18A
+5SB/3.0A
Total Not exceed 140 watts

Max load combined +12V is 50 A
