Specs: Windows 7 service pack 2
I am not the administrator and login to my laptop using a username and password given by my adminstrator. I want to format my hard drive and reinstall my OS. Is it possible without administrative access to the laptop.

No, it is not possible. Nor is it ethical. Don't mess with someone else's computer. If you want to make changes then ask the Administrator.

What if i shut down the system, boot from OS CD and format the hard drive? Since i am formatting the C drive, it should allow installation of new Os right? or is some password set at hardware level or something?

i am learning windows administration. This is just out of curiousity.. to know if it is possible and if yes then what is the importance of administrative access
