Specs: Windows 7, XEON E5420/16Gb
Is it possible to split a SATA3 hard drive into two cables, and use two SATA 2 ports at the same time to get full speed, or am I stuck with SATA2 until I get a new motherboard?

No, you are stuck with SATA2. You cannot combine ports in this way as you will get into synchronisation problems.

✔ Best Answer
You might be able to get a controller card to upgrade to SATA3, if you have an open expansion port.
