can I add my deskjet 870cse to a network

Specs: Windows XP Pro
The following hardware
1) Desktop where printer is currently attached and works no issues
2) Home wireless network using a Netgear N600 Current firmware (just refreshed)
3) Toshiba laptop that I want to access the Printer via the network
4) Cable Modem
5) in short I want access the 870cse from either computer
6) The Toshiba has a wireless printer attached

That's an old printer, it can be shared out via Windows File & Printer sharing, where the printer is hooked to a PC, then shared out over the network via that PC. That PC needs to stay on all the time though in order for the printer to be shared.

Or you can share it by getting a print server for it. Your printer has the old parallel interface with a centronics connector. This is an example of a parallel print server. Then the print server is patched into the network with an Ethernet patch cable to the back of an available router LAN (local area network) port.
