Can a motherboard run a BIOS not made for it

Specs: Windows XP, Pentium 4 531\1 Gb. DDR-400
Hello,

I have a Gigabyte GA-8I915PL-G motherboard with a Pentium 4 531. I was wondering if I could flash the bios using a update for a different motherboard with the same chip setso I can use a Pentium D. The reason I am wondering is the motherboard currently only supports a Pentium 4 at the newest.

Thanks

Any BIOS update must be designed specifically for your motherboard. Even a small mismatch and the flash will fail, leaving you with an unbootable system.
