buying hard drive

Specs: xp, 3.0
Please tell me what hard drive should I buy,
I meand what brand is good and long lasting also quite drive.I am going to buy SATA drive more than 750GB.

Seagate is probably the best you are going to get for reliability. They may not be the fastest drive on the market but it is worth sacrificing a little speed for reliability.

There have been a few reported issues with the large Seagate drives. One recent thread involved the OP not being able to configure the drive at all. A replacement was the same. A Western Digital was then installed with no issues.

You haven't supplied any system specs so we can't know if your system is capable of using a hard drive larger than 127GB. Look at the link below.

The difference is 32 bits or 48 bits. both windows XP SP2 and Vista are 48 bit complient. However your BIOS has to be 48 bit complient as well in order to use a hard disk over 127 GBs

StuartS is correct except for one small fact.

WinXP SP1 is 48 bit LBA compliant too.
