Built INn Speakers

Hewlett-packard / Pavillion dv6119us

Hi Everybody,

The built in speakers on my HP Pavillion dv6119us laptop have stopped working. The sound does work with headsets but is somewhat muffled.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the driver. In addition, I have checked the BIOS. Everything seem OK.

Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be?

Thanks.

Try the obvious first - have you got the volume muted (combination Fn and one of the F keys) as it may not affect headphones?

Yes, I have checked mute and sound volumes. Everything look correct.

One possibility is a damaged headphone jack. The headphone jack is built to disconnect the speakers when a headphone is plugged in. Constant use or misuse can damage the jack.

Actually I never used the headphone jack until I lost the speakers.

Thanks.

It's 'possible' that it's just corroded. You could try plugging and unpluging a headset a few times to see if scrapes off any corrosion.
