Buffalo external drive not recognised

November 26, 2018 at 13:05:04
Specs: Windows 10, Core 7 - 8GB
I am trying to connect my external Buffalo drive to my Windows 10 Dell laptop but its not been recognized.
Found some videos and tried to initialize via the Disk Management and I can see it there as "Disk 1 not initialized" but when I try to initialize disk and use the GPT selection I get the following error message:
"The specified disk is not convertible because the size is less than the minimum size required for GPT disks".

Obviously don't want to lose my data and hoping you guys have the solution for me. (other than spending £500 to fix it via data recovery specialists!

Sometimes just adding a drive letter helps.
Sometimes a free recovery software can help.
Try the free version here:
https://www.ccleaner.com/recuva
Others may come by with other options so check back and do not give up hope.

DO NOT format or remove and partitions nor should you try to save anything to the drive or you might overwrite something important.
Once you are certain that you have recovered all that you can, you can delete any partitions and repartition the drive and format it but always keep another copy on another drive in case there is another problem with the drive or any other drives. Always have at least two copies of any important files and more if really critical or irreplaceable.
Also, some feel that a drive once gone bad is not to be trusted again. Your choice though.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

If the external Buffalo drive can be recognized by your Windows 10 system under Disk Management,
You'd better not to initialize the disk before data recovery as you requested. You can do a quick fix on your external hard drive not shows up in Windows 10 with this link: https://r-datarecovery.com/how-to-fix-external-hard-drive-not-showing-up-windows-10.html. after data recovery, you can then try to format/initialize/assign the new drive letter for this external hard drive to make it visible again.

Maybe.... First, try this:
https://www.easeus.com/partition-re...
It is a partition recovery program rather than just a file recovery program.
