Brother Laser 4040CN color setting

March 4, 2009 at 11:05:37
Specs: Windows XP
Just got new Brother Laser Printer HL 4040 CN. Printing on Normal with color option set to normal I'm very disappointed with dull color printout which looks like a draft version or one that has been faded by light. Can anyone suggest settings in advanced setting that I should adjust to (contrast, percentage red, blue, yellow, saturation etc. ) so that my printout will have vibrant strong color?

Just a guess!!! Could it be that better quality paper is required?
Maybe Brother tech support might have some ideas.

Perhaps the Normal setting is their draft setting. I use a different brand of color laser and print on the cheapest paper I can find. The output is great. Default settings for mine are 1200 x 600 DPI.

Thanks for that. Previous laser gave me much better quality print on same paper. The normal setting on Brother 4040 is 600x600dpi so maybe that is draft. Only other option is 2400x600dpi but still dull appearance.

If a disk came with the printer install it and have a look at what you can do to tweak it. I assume you loaded specific drivers for the printer?

It probably is using less toner than your previous printer so it
looks less glossy. Change paper first. Then check intensity
setting. A last possibility is to check fuser temperature.
