Brand new computer with cd/dvd not detected

Specs: Windows 7
Could not understand why brand new computer would have problems with cd/dvd registry issues. Contacted HP support Live Chat. They said because I followed instructions and deleted lower filter, this would never happen again. Is that true?

So your problem has been solved and all you are seeking here is reassurance that it won't happen again?

First of all this was My first time on this site, and reading through some of the questions, I guess I wasn't in such dire straits as some people. I do appreciate a response though. Yes I am looking for another opinion. I thought it odd that a brand new computer would have such a issue. Now I have another issue as well, the installed Hulu stopped working suddenly. I don't know if its because, I installed Java from a secondary website or what? I uninstalled Hulu, and was hoping to re-install from the Hulu website. Thank You and anyone else for any reassurance I can get about the lower filter deletion. I don't want to keep deleting registry keys for My CD/DVD to work. I was ready to take the computer back before the 90 days are up!!

well I did once have a problem with optic drives becoming inacessible after installing a particular burning program. The fix was to edit registry upper & lower filters and it was only ever needed to be done once so it is unlikely you will need to do so again.

Sorry I cannot help with the Hulu issue as I do not live in the applicable area to use it. Perhaps you should post a separate question in the Windows7 forum.
Best wishes...R
