Brand new Canon Printer MG5750 is not printing colors

I have bought a Canon printer (MG 5750 - Black) less than a week ago.
On the new printer I was using the working and filled original Canon cartridges from the previous Canon printer (MG 5751 - White) to save a buck or two. The old Canon printer had to be replaced because of paper transport problems (no colour issues then).

At first the (old) cartridges were working fine. But after 4 days and more than 10 pages with colours the (new) printer was printing no colours at all.

I did some maintenance: cleaning print head and deep cleaning. But it didn't help.
The solution for now is that I have put in the colour cartridges that came with the new printer.
So my questions are:
- what seems to be the problem with the Canon cartridges that I reused from the previous Canon printer?
- how can I revive them (without throwing money away)?

Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge with Q-Tip and rubbing alcohol, it might have some ink on them from removing them from the old printer.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

Are you sure the ink level in the cartridge is full?

I don't need to be right, but I am never wrong.
