Bought replacement dvd drive but it has no eject button???

January 26, 2012 at 22:04:09
Specs: Windows 7
I recently ordered a slot drive dvd replacement for an HP TouchSmart 300 All-In-One computer from Laptopdvdrw.com, and when I got it it was the wrong model. I emailed the site and told the guy that it was the wrong model and it didn't have an eject button (at least as far as I can tell). He says it is compatible and that I have to take the eject button off of my old drive an put it on the new drive. Is this possible?...or have I been hoo-doo'ed? If it helps my old drive is model TS-T633L and the Laptopdvdrw.com drive is model GA32N. Thanks for any help guys.

The front of your old drive may be an HP part, made to match the PC.
Therefore, you must unclip it and attach it to your new drive so that it also matches your PC and provides an eject button.

Even with no button, however, you should still be able to eject discs by using Windows Explorer. Right-click the DVD drive icon and choose "Eject" from the context-menu.

When you say front, do you mean the bezel (or plate), or the actual bare metal front of the drive? I know that bezels can be switched, but I am looking at the new drive without the bezel on it and I just don't see an eject button.

It appears the "button" would be on the left side. You have to switch the bezel.

I don't have my drive (ts-T633L) handy at the moment and I can't find a large pic of the front of it on google, but I think my eject button is on the righthand side

My old drive has an amber colored eject button board on the right hand side, but I see no such board on the new drive.
