Blank Monitor Screen

Dell / 8400
May 15, 2010 at 16:25:36
Specs: Windows XP, 2 GB
I opened the computer up and dusted it out with air as usual. When I put it back together the monitor will not come on. I rebooted and the monitor just has the yellow light but a blank screen. When I rebooted I heard the windows start up music but nothing on monitor. I checked the cords and connections, all of them, and unplugged everything, waited, plugged it back in and it still shows a blank monitor screen.

Make sure the compressed air you used was meant for computer use, alot of the compressed airs out there shoot out stuff that you dont want touching the inners of your comp.
Also make sure you didnt blow any dust into any of the connectors.
If you double/triple checked EVERYTHING was connected right, have no idea what the problem could be.

I never thought of that, the compressed air I have I have always used but it says for electronics, not computers specifically. I touched the monitor screen button and it says it is in stanby mode and to move the mouse, I did and tried the keyboard but it does not respond. I changed the batteries in both keyboard and mouse and established a connection but still it says in stanby. Is there something specific else I can check? It had pulled out the usb cable to the monitor but I had reconnected it, and restarted. Thanks so much!

Its a USB monitor?
Try using a dif USB Port, ive seen USB ports (just 1 out of many on a pc) randomly stop working before.

Thanks! I'll try that.
I did and still no luck. When I first boot up it looks like the screen is coming on but then it goes right to power save mode.
