Specs: Windows XP
My son was on my Toshiba laptop and the screen jus suddenly went black. Still has power but will not boot. Tried unplugging and removing battery - but won't reboot. Almost like it is stuck on sleep. Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is getting power. When turned on the fan starts for a minute and then it just stops.

Have you tried plugging it into an external monitor to see if you a picture? I would start there, if you get a clear picture it could just be a cable or inverter.

There is no output at all to the external monitor? Could be that the motherboard is gone. Not much you can do but find a new system board.
