Black screen after flashing Toshiba laptop BIOS with smpv110

January 6, 2016 at 00:22:14
Specs: Windows 7 Home edition
It is a toshiba satellite m645-s4114 model. The smpv110 was listed as the next bios update from 1.09 which i was currently running. The motherboard is the standard issue for that model, a phoenix secure core tiano. After it went thru the flashing the laptop shut down and will not power up. It tries to, power comes on, fan starts up then it shuts off again. During the attempted boot up, the screen stays completely black, no flashing cursor and no chance of even reaching the bios screen. Any pointers or is this a lost cause. Thanks in advance. D

Your best bet is to contact Toshiba to see if they have an undo. I assume you obtained the flash update from them.

Was there some "specific reason" for doing this? BIOS updates should not be done unless essential and are usually to enable a different CPU or something like that.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Have you tried to remove the battery and AC adapter, then hold the power button for 60 seconds?
