Solved BIOS missing Samsung notebook NP300E5C

August 23, 2018 at 09:27:47
Specs: Windows 10
Hi,

I am unable to get my samsung laptop to get into the BIOS setup. I have tried all the Fn keys, ESC and DEL with no luck... Only F10 gets me the select boot device menu which also has "app menu" tab . I have read a post by another user that this app menu has something like "setup" which we select and enter. This should take to the BIOS. However the app menu in my case is just empty!. So I do not know whats wrong or how to fix it. Any help pls?

TIA.

Within WIn10 , go to "recovery" (start > Update & Security") > advanced startup. Take it from there and see if you can get into the BIOS.

Did you look in the manual? The proper key is F2. Start with a cold boot & immediately begin tapping the F2 key. See page 74 of 133: http://downloadcenter.samsung.com/c...

Yes, I have tried it countless times... its does not work. Infact I have tried all the usual suspects too.. F1, F2, F8, F10, DEL, ESC.

Your laptop likely had Win8 originally & was "upgraded" to Win10, correct? Fastboot is probably enabled so it's very important to get the timing right. F2 is the correct key. You have to begin tapping the key immediately upon startup, if you hesitate or wait for the Samsung screen, you'll miss your chance. Did you try shutting the laptop down, holding the F2 key, then pressing the power button?

Yep, Its upgraded to Win10. I have tried like you said with F2 , both tapping and holding it even before the samsung logo comes on. Still does not work.

The F10 key does bring up the boot menu which has a "app menu" tab. This app menu is supposed to have an option to enter BIOS as a second method but in my case the app menu tab is empty. :(

This is frustratingly sticky problem.

A couple of responses in the following thread say the AC adapter must be plugged in. Another one said to hold the F10 key down, then power on the laptop. It's worth a shot. There's also a link to the same site posted by ijack.

@sluc, THANK YOU!...That worked.. :)

But it is buried way too deep that most would not even think of going to BIOS.. F2 still does not work, but I am good with this.. seems this is a secondary way of getting there from the OS. Good to see the BIOS finally.. ha ha
