Bios hang up

Specs: Windows XP, 7, ubuntu 10.10, Lucid puppy, Pentium 4 2.4GHz / 512Mb
My bios hangs up in the middle of the boot up. It detects the devices, then shows the details of the primary slave and hangs there. The bios is an American Megatrends'. Any solutions? PLEASE HELP cause my dad's firing me badly...........

And i forgot to say that i cannot enter the bios setup cause it hangs at an initial point.
Removing the CMOS battery did also not work a bit..... pls help..........

Test your memory with Memtest86, you probably have a bad stick of RAM. If you fins errors and have more than one stick of memory then retest them one at a time to find the bad one.
You CAN try removing memory and try booting with one at a time and see if it works, but this is less conclusive and won't give you the same positive answer. It may find the bad one though if you can boot with one and not the other.

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.

I cant do a mem test cause the bios itself hangs up before even i could do a thing.

I just now found the prob.. Its with the hard disk. whenever a boot removing the hard disk and from the usb, it works just fie for me. But the Gparted from usb live does not recognise the hard disk. Plz help. Cause if i have to replace the hd, it would cost a lot and even data of approx. 80GB........
