bios change to see more memory?

Specs: Windows Vista
My Sony VGN N220E was shipped with Vista Home Premium. I recently tried to upgrade the RAM above the Factory Max of 2 Gigs, and windows cannot see the additional memory. Would a bios tweak allow it to see 4 Gigs?

List the make and model of your machine. If 2 gigs is the max it will take, that's it.

You should always do your homework before running out & buying any hardware. Your laptop only accepts a max of 2GB, 1GB per slot. Read it & weep:

It depends on the CPU, mainboard, and operating system. 32 bit Windows can only address 4 gigs of addresses for RAM and virtual memory total.

If the motherboard is designed for no more than 2gbs I am surprised it booted with 4gbs.
