Solved bios beeps

Specs: none as yet, single core pent 4 ,1.8 gig
Hi guys, need a bit of help please, Re: Gigabyte GE-81K1100 mobo , system starts to bios screen and goes through memory test , about 2 mins from cold, then loss of use of keyboard
and award bios beeps occur , the beeps are continuous short beeps ,which I believe indicate
power issue, but cant be sure do to the many versions of award

See the owners manual for the beep codes. I'd guess memory but you need an exact list.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.

Identical, repeated beeps on Award BIOS means Memory Error - Memory is either damaged or badly seated.

You can test the RAM with memtest86:

Download the Windows ISO and create a CD from it with "IMGBurn" from here:

Boot the PC from the CD you just created.
Run the test for at least five passes.
The more passes it does, the more accurate the test results will be.

Hi guys Re: beeps , memory checked out ok, by process of elimination removed hardware a piece at a time , went back to onboard everything, no joy. after much
head scratching , completely removed mobo and low and behold, upon turning it
over to look at the back a tiny patch of discolour had appeared . suspecting a
short out I tried another board and bingo it worked fine , cannot for the life of me
think how this has happened, no evidence of earthing against the case or loose
screws , but it was an old gigabyte mobo and maybe just died of old age LOL
