Specs: Windows 7
Bought a computer from Best Buy for $450. 18 mo later the "on off button" not working. Took to Geek Squad, have IN WRITING estimated repair of $106. Seemed steep for the button but agreed to the price in JULY 2011,6 weeks later got a CALL from the GoonSquad to come pick up the computer for$667 bill! I said..."you must have the wrong computer, my estimate was $106 can I get a fax or email with the... repair itemization?" GoonSquad: "no, you have to pay the bill first and then you can get the invoice/itemization."I say WT HECK? that is unethical! I have spoken to numerous Best Bully and Goon Squad reps, and no one will honor my contract, showing $106. THEY SAY that they have agreement for repairs at $667. I ask for proof, anything in writing? NOPE. anything on voice recording? NOPE. just the goon squad notes in their computer saying someone in my family agreed to the $667 charges....do NOT trust them or pay for their rotten service. Our family will NEVER buy anything from Best Bully or Goo...

I hope you didn't pay them. If you did, lesson learned on your part. I would take that all the way to the top meaning the corporate offices if I had to. A little article in the newspaper would be good too.

"no, you have to pay the bill first and then you can get the invoice/itemization." Regardless of the fact that this particular organization is known for its outrageous prices....I can't imagine any business (even this one) trying to get payment for anything without an invoice. Did you actually go to the store and talk to someone?

Yes, I spent hours in the store. They are insane about this. I have not paid them! We are going to small claims court. I have an estimate showing $106.10

Newspaper is good, investigative reporter, etc. I am not letting this go; they are so unethical! I am investing a great deal of time ( and therefore $$) on this. We will be going to court.

So when you asked them for the invoice detailing the work done, what did they say?

Even though some companies may be considered expensive, I would think you'd be entitled to receive a detailed invoice before having to pay for any repairs.

They said "you may not get an invoice or the itemization until you pay the bill ($667). then we will issue you the invoice."...........I was and I still am shocked at these people! Astonishing! Their bad business behavior is off the charts!

Call the better business bureau. Or drive your car through the front window. That will get attention.

I tend to agree that companies stick it to people but your post doesn't really apply to these forums and should be removed. Best buy could hold you liable and this site for any damages.

1/3 of highway deaths are caused by drunks. The rest are by people who can't drive any better than a drunk.
