best motherboard for windows xp

Specs: Windows XP, AMD single/2GB Corsair
I want a mobo that will run XP SP2 properly. XP SP2 is as far as I'm willing to go with Microsoft spyware and controlware that they are now labeling an OS. So I'd like a board that will run Linux also, for when (if) XP SP2 no longer serves me as I want.

Apparently, a lot of the new boards won't run XP Home properly.

Everybody has a preference. Look at Tom's reviews of motherboards and take your pick.

My preferance avoids NVidia, but others only buy that for the performance. For stability, I like the Intel group. For price I like AMD. Lots of factors and reasons to select a 'special' item.

Your issue is not that XP can't run it is that there is no more companies that make good computers. At one time days were spent on testing but now the test is when you power it up. You are the tester.

I'd get a new Windows 7 computer from a big name company or one that has a good warranty. Then I'd run a free virtual machine to run XP in. VM's were made to run xp and they don't much care about the host OS or system.

You can get a free security suite from MS. See security essentials.

Almost all linux, bsd, qnx, beos OS's will run on the VM's too so you can run many at one time if you want with a VM.
