battery not charging on acer iconia one 8

Specs: android 5.1 lollipop, 1.3ghz/1gb
I have an Acer Iconia one 8 Tablet B1-850 that is currently taking over a day to get a charge of 100%.
I am on wifi and have no issue with that . D-Link working fine.
The battery charger seems to be working fine (red light on) but can't seem to get above 20% charge of battery..
I power it off to help it along.
This issue started few weeks ago when opera max (pre-installed by manuf) and other google pre-installed things like google newsstand (which I could care less if I had) were automatically updated.

As this uses a USB charging mains unit it "might" be that the usb charging unit (AC adapter) isn't delivering adequate volts and/or current... Charging units can and do fail; especially if their current rating is close the edge required...

Can you get another 2.00amp (or more) usb charger and try with that to see if the battery will fully charge?

Simply measuring the volts from the charger you have "off load" (not connected to the tablet) will not be sufficient; as off load it may appear OK, but when under load (connected to the tablet) it "may" not be delivering the correct volts/current.

Can you disable or uninstall the google stuff you don't need?

Also, try completely draining the battery and then charging it fully.
