I bought another power supply. its a Galaxis 500 modular power supply. I plugged it into my system and connected everything and pressed the power button. It went on for a few seconds the LED fans spun, the CPU fan spun and the LED eyes on the front of the case lit up all for about 5 seconds and then everything stopped. Does this mean the PSU is dead? Or could something else be wrong.

That depends. Why did you get the new power supply? Was your system not working or did you just decide to upgrade?

If you system wasn't working prior to getting the new power supply then something else must be wrong. Check my # 2 here for some ideas on that:

If you just decided to upgrade the power supply then maybe you messed something up while you were inside the case. Or I guess you can check to see if the new power supply is bad by reconnecting the old one.

The "Galaxis 500" (TOPOWER) is complete junk. You were told not to cut corners on the PSU, but you did it anyway.

Well like i said in the other post, my friend got this power supply and he said his works fine so i decided to get it too. I also based my decision off of Neweggs reviews. 70% of people said that it works great for them, 23% said it was good but not perfect, and 7% said it was DOA. I think i might have been one of the unlucky ones with the DOA. . Is there any way to test if its my PSU to see if its dead?
